Personal Bio

Our Church is nothing without its amazing leaders

About me

Pastor Bill Harris was born in Astoria Queens, and lived in New York state until 2017 when he retired and moved to Port St Lucie Florida. Having always been bi-vocational, Pastor Bill has been reaching people in the secular world as well as the ministry for a large portion of his life. He has been married for 51 years to Susan Harris and has 3 adult Children and 8 grandchildren.

Shortly after retiring from two decades of simultaneously pastoring a church, and working in the chemical industry, Pastor Bill came out of retirement to serve at New Beginnings Community Church as the Chrome Crosses Biker Ministry Pastor.  In addition to serving as the CC Pastor, he teaches Bible study and helps lead musically on the praise team with his heart warming vocals and guitar playing. His wife Sue serves as ministry leader of both The Kings Kids, as well as the Women’s Ministry.

Pastor Bill’s credentialing includes a Bachelor of Church Ministry, as well as service as Senior Pastor at Community Church of Yorktown for 18 years. He was also a founding member of Beautiful Savior Church, and has served as Chairman of Elder Board, Lay Assistant/Worship Leader/ Preacher, Chairman of the Evangelism Board, Christian Education Director, and owner of Living Waters Christian Bookstore in New York.

Aside from pastoral care, preaching, and teaching bible studies, Pastor Bill has often served in leadership musically, singing and playing the guitar just as he does now at NBCC. A gifted musician and teacher, Pastor Bill has been blessed with both the ability to lead others in music worship and in teaching Bible studies. While he loves doing both he says that teaching is his passion.

Some of his other passions and hobbies include reading, listening to music, bird watching and sharing the gospel (which he declares is not a hobby but a calling). However, those who know him closely say the things that make Pastor Bill him are the way he loves making people laugh, and his comforting presence. Mere mention of Pastor Bill’s quick witted humor and his silly movie interpretations bring smiles and laughter to the faces of each of his family members upon recollection. But while he can be silly and lighthearted, his versatility allows him to also be present and caring with others. This can be exemplified through the way he so compassionately gives one of his favorite benediction verses from Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
